SUMMER 2022
The unusually hot summer of 2022 provoked ecological disasters in all corners of the world, and resulted in melting glaciers all over Europe. By July, the heat showed no signs of respite and glaciers were forced to close, bringing summer skiing to an abrupt halt. Ski teams lost their training grounds and had to adapt best to the situation.
The Swiss Freeski Team were lucky to have a novel playground in Leysin, as they opened up their brand new airbag earlier this summer. Although we got fewer training days on snow than we’d hoped for, we were still able to train productively in the sunny Vaud canton.
Although I felt a little underprepared when the competition period kicked off, I feel like I rapidly managed to get my tricks back and be mentally ready for the competition period.
In the month of May, I had the chance to go hiking in the Himalayas, from Lukla to the Everst base camp at 5300m! The experience was incredible, I had the chance to experience the rich Nepalese culture as well as their mezmerising mountain ranges.
